‘Time’ TravelWith first single “Alcohol” a quick hit on Billboard’s Top Country Songs chart, Brad Paisley returns this week with a new Arista Nashville album, “Time Well Wasted.” It’s the follow-up to 2003’s “Mud on the Tires,” which has sold more than 1.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“I’ve tried my best to revisit the things that people expect from me, like including a gospel song and doing instrumentals and also humor on occasion,” remarks Paisley. “But I’ve also recorded some things that will hopefully take listeners to a different place.”
The 16 tracks here range from roadhouse twang-o-ramas (“You Need a Man Around Here”), well-rendered sentimental ballads (“Waitin’ on a Woman,” “Out in the Parkin’ Lot”) and radio-ready romance (“The World,” “She’s Everything”).
Elsewhere, Dolly Parton guests on “When I Get Where I’m Going” and turns up again in tandem with George Jones, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson on the humorous “Cornography.”
