HitsMeUp, a new digital platform for music videos with exclusive behind-the-scenes content, live streamed concerts, interviews and more, has announced its March 3 launch. The new service will also have exclusive channels from record label partners that thus far includes the Big Machine Label Group (Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Reba and Thomas Rhett) and Warner Music Nashville (Blake Shelton, Jana Kramer, Cole Swindell, and Brett Eldredge).
Co-founded by five Nashville veterans who work in media, technology and music industries, HitsMeUp will allow artists to create their own dedicated channels and curate unique and immersive video experiences .The platform will be powered worldwide by PublicVine’s PaaS technology and Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, will be the platform’s exclusive global advertising sales partner.
“In today’s connected age, there was something missing in the experience between music artists and their fans,” Butch Waugh, HItsMeUp co-founder said in a statement. “We created one place where artists can connect with their fans in a way that they have never done before. HitsMeUp offers artists a direct line to their fans in an engaging and personal way.”
HitsMeUp has also created a proprietary reporting system to ensure the platform is both music industry and artist friendly. Video views on HitsMeUp will be counted by Nielsen’s consumption charts, allowing artists to share in a more equitable formula for royalties.

Waugh, who spent 27 years working at record labels London, A&M and RCA Records (where, by the way, he worked both Frampton Comes Alive and the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack) before landing at Red Light Management, met his HitsMeUp’s other co-founders Skip Bishop (who has a consultancy with Waugh), Chris King (CEO of CMS specializing in media and brand partnerships) Chad Little (VP of media CMS ) and Stokes Nielson (CEO of Channel Greatness and also a consultant) when they were working togeher to promote and help break the band Locash. In much the same manner HitsMeUp hopes its platform can similarly break artists.
All of which begs the question, how the name HitsMeUp came about: “Stokes Nielsen left a message for one of the other partners saying, ‘when you get time hit me up,'” explains Waugh. “So we said, ‘there’s our name!.”
