John Hirai will be appointed to the new position of VP, international repertoire, at Toshiba-EMI effective Nov. 1, the Tokyo-based label said today (Oct. 17).
Hirai was previously an account supervisor at leading Tokyo-based ad agency Dentsu. Prior to that, he worked as an A&R producer at Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), Warner Brothers Records in the United States and at Kitty Records in Tokyo.
“He brings abundance of global perspective in the entertainment business and experience in marketing strategy, and we look forward to his contribution in expanding the market share of Toshiba-EMI,” said Toshiba-EMI president/CEO Shoji Doyama in a statement.
Hirai, who will work with the label’s international marketing team, will report to Sebastien Fresneau, acting president, international repertoire, at Toshiba-EMI.
