Four months after their debut single, “Kyun,” hit No. 1, Hinatazaka46‘s second single, “Doremifasolasido,” blasts in at the top spot on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated July 15 to 21, with 448,819 copies sold.
The girl group rules three metrics — physical sales, look-ups, and Twitter mentions — and also comes in at No. 4 for downloads, No. 7 for radio airplay, and No. 24 for streaming. “Kyun” has sold 630,626 copies to date, and the follow-up track has also started off on a good note in terms of sales.
RADWIMPS have joined forces with Your Name director Makoto Shinkai once again for his highly anticipated new animated movie Weathering With You, released in Japanese theaters Friday (July 19). Five songs from the movie soundtrack released in conjunction with the film have entered the Japan Hot 100, with “Ai ni dekirukoto wa mada arukai” and “Grand Escape” featuring Toko Miura bowing at No. 4 and 9, respectively.
Downloads for the J-pop rockers’ hits off their Your Name soundtrack from three years ago — including “Sparkle,” “Zenzenzense” and “Nandemonaiya” — are also resurging, and the band could have another mega-hit album on their hands depending on how Shinkai’s latest movie plays out at the box office.
Official HIGE DANdism‘s “Pretender” drops to 3-5 on the Japan Hot 100 but continues to rule streaming for the 9th week, with streams increasing again from 5,087,110 to 5,383,336 and downloads still on the rise as well. While the song slips a couple of notches due to new songs bowing on the tally, it’s actually improving in performance and will likely stay in the top tier for some time.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, as well as dHits and Uta Pass, and karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
