Charleston is set to get a deafening dose of rock, soul, folk and every subgenre that connects them at the 2020 High Water Festival courtesy of Wilco, Nathaniel Rateliff, Brittany Howard, Mavis Staples, festival curators Shovels & Rope and more.
Many of the musicians playing this year’s event — which takes place April 18 and 19 in Charleston’s Riverfront Park — are returning to the friends-and-family affair. Both Rateliff and Matthew Logan Vasquez, the lead singer of Delta Spirit, were on the inaugural lineup in 2017, and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy flew solo for the 2018 outing.
Andrew Bird, Drive-By Truckers, Rufus Wainwright Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen and Delta Spirit, who are returning from a hiatus, are also set to perform.
2020 marks the fourth round of the festival, which has been curated by Shovels & Rope since its very first weekend in April 2017. The duo have headlined every High Water to date, and will be joined by local acts Wilder Woods and She Returns From War in 2020.
High Water tickets go on sale on Wednesday (Nov. 6) for previous buyers; the public on-sale begins on Thursday (Nov. 7) at 10 a.m.
