Helen Terry has been named as the new producer of the annual Brit Awards. Terry, best known as a featured vocalist with ’80s hitmakers Culture Club, takes overall production responsibility for the TV show.
She succeeds longtime Brits executive producer Lisa Anderson.
“We want the Brits to be the most artist-friendly music awards show in the world, because without the artists, we don’t have a show at all,” comments Brits co-chair Lucian Grainge, who is also Universal Music U.K. chairman/CEO.
“Helen combines musical knowledge, production expertise and a passion for the Brits,” adds British Phonographic Industry (BPI) executive chairman Peter Jamieson.
Terry’s appointment comes well in advance of the 2005 event, which will mark the awards’ 25th anniversary. Plans have “already begun in earnest,” says the BPI in a statement.
