At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday night, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson saluted past members of their band who were absent from the festivities.
Six members of the late 1970s edition of Heart were inducted into the Hall — the Wilson sisters plus Michael DeRosier, Roger Fisher, Steven Fossen and Howard Leese. However, key players from Heart’s 1980s lineup — bassist Mark Andes and drummer Danny Carmassi — were omitted from the induction (a determination made by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame).

Ann Wilson specifically noted Andes and Carmassi, saying that she and her sister “absolutely” share the honor with them. “They should be here. They really should be here. (The honor is) for everybody who’s been in this band. Nancy and I represent Heart tonight, but Heart is a lot of people.”
Andes and Carmassi played on Heart’s albums released between 1983 and 1991, including the band’s only No. 1 Billboard 200 album: 1985’s “Heart.” In that era, the group logged a string of seven top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including their two No. 1s: 1986’s “These Dreams” and 1987’s “Alone.”
The current lineup of Heart, led of course by Ann and Nancy Wilson, will hit the road on June 17 for a tour that has scheduled dates through Sept. 21. Joining the band will be Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. Heart’s most recent album, 2012’s “Fanatic,” debuted and peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 12 on the Rock Albums chart. It sold 43,000 copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan.
