Eminem‘s contribution to the Southpaw soundtrack, “Phenomenal,” is officially here.
The track is a bold, dark and at times an empowering ode on which Em rhymes about being, you guessed it, phenomenal– with some of his signature pop culture references thrown in.
“Let me self-empower you / When you’re down and they’re tryin’ to clown the f— out of you/ When you feel like you’re runnin’ out of fuel/ I’ll show you how to use doubt as fuel/ Convert it to gunpowder too/ Now what you do is put the match to the charcoal fluid/ Put a spark to it like Martha Stewart barbecuing,” he spits.
It’s featured on the Shady Records-produced soundtrack for the upcoming film Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal who plays a boxer looking to rise up again after a tragedy, out July 24.
