Canadian guitarist/trumpet player Jeff Healey has signed a recording deal with Edmonton, Alberta-based Stony Plain Records.
The first album under the agreement, set for an early 2006 release, is “Jazz Wizards” with legendary British traditional jazz trombonist Chris Barber. The album, recorded live in a Toronto club between Aug. 19-23, will be issued through Stony Plain in territories including Canada, the United Kingdom, United States, Europe and Australia.
“Jeff built a huge reputation as a rock/blues guitarist, but his passion has always been jazz recorded between the early 1920s and the early 1940s,” says Stony Plain president Holger Petersen. “His Jazz Wizards band recreates a varied selection of jazz and pop material from an era when jazz was the exciting, hip music of its day.”
