EMI’s VP of government and industry affairs, Ayesha Hazarika, is leaving the company to become a special adviser to Harriet Harman, member of parliament, deputy leader and chair of the Labour Party.
Victoria Bassetti, EMI’s senior VP of government and industry affairs, continues to have worldwide responsibility. Bassetti said in a statement, “During her time at EMI, Ayesha has been critical to our efforts to establish the right legal climate for the music industry to thrive in. We congratulate her on her new role and wish her the best.”
Hazarika joined EMI in February 2005 as business coordinator to Eric Nicoli, then chairman and CEO of EMI Group, and she was promoted to VP of government and industry affairs in January 2007.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working in such a fast-paced business and gaining a real insight into one of the UK’s most important and successful creative industries,” said Hazarika in a statement.
Her new role begins next week and will involve a specific remit focusing on Harman’s priorities as minister for women and equality.
