Welcome to #TBT Mixtape, Billboard’s series that showcases artists’ very own throwback-themed playlists, exclusive to Billboard’s Spotify account. The curated set features the artists’ favorite tracks from their youth and childhood.
This week’s spin comes from Haux. The enigmatic artist/producer (born Woodson Black) has carefully curated each step of his fast-rising project from his quiet home in the Berkshires, with his 2016 debut EP All We’ve Known netting more than 50 million streams to date. With his latest, Something to Remember, out last month via Ultra Music, the multimedia artist earned a major co-sign in Taylor Swift, who featured two of his tracks on her Songs Taylor Loves Spotify playlist.
Before heading out on his Something to Remember international tour in May, Haux curated this week’s #TBT Mixtape, inspired by his “angsty” teenage years, featuring heartrending cuts from José Gonzalez, Bon Iver, Sia and more.
“A few days ago I found an old hard-drive that I thought I’d lost many years ago,” he says. “This one in particular had all of my music from my teenage years. So I’ve put together a collection of songs that got me through the teenage angst & laid the groundwork for the direction of Haux.”
