Harry Styles kicked off his Halloween weekend in Los Angeles by suiting up a blindingly bright costume inspired by one of the musical icons of his homeland.
For the Casamigos Halloween bash on Friday night (Oct. 26), Styles didn’t just grab a pair of pink, gem-studded, oversized sunglasses that could’ve been pilfered from Elton John‘s wardrobe. He donned a glittery Dodgers uniform, a nearly head-to-toe identical imitation of the same ensemble the “Rocket Man” rocked for his shows at L.A.’s Dodger Stadium in 1975.
To compare, here’s a photo of John at the piano back in 1975…
… and here’s Styles.
The pop star clearly loved playing the part, nailing John’s poses and beaming grin for a series of photo ops.
This isn’t the first time Styles has embraced John’s sartorial flair: when the One Direction singer embarked on his own solo venture, he hit the road in 2017 with some of the smartest suits the stage has seen since John’s sequined, embroidered and highly theatrical get-ups of his hey-day.
His end-of-tour message to his fans featured a pic of him sporting huge shades John would be proud of, so it was a natural progression for Styles to consider a full-on tribute to “Crocodile Rock”-ing legend just in time for Halloween.
Kissy. Thank you for coming out to see us, it has been a pleasure playing for you all. I’m off to write some more music and I hope I’ll be seeing you again very soon. Thank you to my band, the crew, and all of you for making this tour so wonderful. Treat people with kindness. Goodbye for now. I love you all. H
