Harry Styles is as known for his floppy brunette mane, colorful wardrobe choices and, as of late, proclivity for Gucci as he is for his high-profile music career, both as a member of One Direction and as a recent solo artist. That’s why during Tuesday night’s Dunkirk movie premiere at the AMC Lowes theater at Lincoln Center in New York City’s Upper Westside neighborhood, we were pleasantly surprised to see Styles walk the red carpet in a clean and sophisticated black suit from Calvin Klein’s 205W39NYC label.
His impeccable Raf Simons-designed wool, peak lapel tuxedo jacket from the Pre-Spring 2018 CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC line was worn over a classic black dress shirt, which he tucked into black slacks that boast a red and white marching-band embroidery on the hem. Though he usually rocks Chelsea boots both day and night, Styles opted to sport black leather western ankle boots with a silver cap toe from the Fall 2017 CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC collection and four complementary rings.
Dunkirk marks Styles’ first foray into acting in a feature-length film — One Direction previously guest-starred on Nickelodeon’s iCarly back in 2012 — and has already received mainly positive reviews from critics across the board and an impressive 97 percent “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While Styles has a minor role as Alex in the Christopher Nolan-directed and -written film about Allied soldiers during World War II, alongside fellow countrymen Tom Hardy and barista-turned lead actor Fionn Whitehead, the acting buzz is there.
Perhaps this new mature press wardrobe filled with plenty of neutral hues is an indication of his fashion taste progressing on a similar refined wavelength as his solo music.
Dunkirk is in theaters Friday and produced by Warner Bros. Studios. Check out Styles’ full look below:
