Following the death of Carrie Fisher on Tuesday (Dec. 27), her Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford released a statement about the late actress.
“Carrie was one-of-a-kind… brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely,” Ford said. “My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”
Fisher, who was 60, was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday (Dec. 23) when she went into cardiac arrest. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for her heart attack. Her daughter, actress Billie Lourd, issued a statement via a family spokesperson on the morning of Dec. 27 to confirm that her mother had sadly passed away.
Fellow Star Wars co-stars also sent their condolences upon hearing of Fisher’s death. Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian in the film franchise) tweeted, “I’m deeply saddened at the news of Carrie’s passing. She was a dear friend, whom I greatly respected and admired. The force is dark today!”
Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) also released a kind statement on Twitter, writing, “There are no words for this loss. Carrie was the brightest light in every room she entered. I will miss her dearly.”
