H.E.R. took over the Roxie Theatre in Los Angeles for an intimate performance of her new single “Damage” for the official music video, which came out Wednesday (Oct. 21).
The 23-year-old R&B artist finds her way onto the stage of the LA venue (not to be confused with the Roxy venue on the Sunset Strip), which is adorned with greenery and lamps that shine on H.E.R. and her bandmates while they perform. The tender track features background vocals from Ant Clemons, who also co-wrote it.
“Holdin’ me tight, lovin’ me right, givin’ me life/ All night you could be (You could be)/ Tellin’ me lies, makin’ me cry, wastin’ my time/ The whole time, so just be/ Careful what you take for granted, yeah/ ‘Cause with me know you could do damage,” she croons in the chorus.
“Damage” comes ahead of her forthcoming, untitled studio album via MBK Entertainment/RCA Records.
H.E.R. will make her Saturday Night Live debut on Saturday as the musical guest, with Adele hosting. “I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my arse off in between it all,” Adele wrote on her Instagram announcement this week.
