Nashville singer-songwriter Guy Clark came to Austin Thursday night to join the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame alongside his best friend the late Townes Van Zandt, country legend Loretta Lynn, Texas accordion master Flaco Jimenez and Western swingsters Asleep At the Wheel.
“Apparently, Guy had a bad reaction to some medication he was taking for a recent surgery,” said ACL producer Terry Lickona. Lovett accepted the honor, a glass replica of the long-running TV show’s famous skyline backdrop, for Clark, of whom he said “he is my friend, he is my hero” during the induction speech.
Clark’s publicist Tamara Saviano returned briefly to the ACL Live venue to gather Clark’s things, then returned to the hospital. She did not immediately return an email asking for Clark’s status.
