As part of the Art Basel festivities, club Rockwell hosted a pop-up of the famed NYC club 1OAK. Gucci Mane was the main attraction of the night, as he chilled in a VIP lounge with Migos and fiancée Keyshia Ka’oir.
Gucci Mane has had perhaps one of the busiest years of his legendary career. He got engaged two weeks ago at an Atlanta Hawks game. He even released a new video Friday (Dec. 2) for “St. Brick Intro.” Gucci — who is featured on Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Black Beatles” with Rae Sremmurd, released the Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition with Future and hung out with Courtney Love at Basel — wore a pinstriped button-down shirt along with his trademark sunglasses and chains; Keyshia was sporting a long mane of fiery orange hair.
Art collectors, tourists, marketers and just plain ol’ Miami clubbers mixed together on a star-studded, glitzy Miami night. Many guests we spoke to were unaware that Gucci was even the headliner of the night and simply wanted to appear at a swank club on Miami Beach. One art collector we spoke to was pleasantly surprised Gucci would be making an appearance, not noticing the rapper was standing about 20 feet away from him.
The club’s digs featured dancers in angular gold costumes and mandible masks. They marched around the club popping champagne bottles and lighting sparklers. On the ceiling, there was a spider web of trippy neon lights.
The night would end up being more of a standard Miami club appearance rather than a full-blown concert. When Gucci grabbed the mic, he performed his monster hit “Black Beatles,” alongside classics “Freaky Girl” and “First Day Out Tha Feds.” The crowd ate up each one, yelling the lyrics back at an overjoyed Gucci. Ka’oir stood above him on a counter and rapped alongside him. After about 15 minutes of rapping, Gucci left the stage and receded back into the VIP area and left the club. It was a brief but powerful experience. The sparklers proceeded once again, and the DJ went into a remix of D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty‘s “Broccoli.”
