Vocalist Josh Groban has slated a 2005 U.S. tour that will kick off Jan. 25 in Tampa, Fla. The 30-date outing will close March 19 in Las Vegas. Internet pre-sale opportunities for some dates begin as early as Wednesday (Dec. 1) via Ticketmaster.
The tour will be Groban’s third continental run in support of his sophomore 143/Reprise album “Closer.” Released in late 2003, the set reached No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in January and has sold 3.98 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
As previously reported, a summer Los Angeles tour stop is the basis for the CD/DVD “Live at the Greek,” due out tomorrow (Nov. 30). Footage from the set will be utilized in Groban’s second PBS special, due to premiere in December.
Groban is in the midst of an international tour that will play the second of two sho9ws in Johannesburg tomorrow. European dates kick off Dec. 8 in Amsterdam and close Dec. 22 in London.
