When it comes to dedicated fanbases, Michigan music man Griz has one of the electronic world’s most serious. His fresh blend of dance, funk, hip-hop and jazz does something to people, and the live saxophone pushes the vibe over the top. Plus, he’s a really kind and genuine guy, so you just root for him.
Griz currently lives in Colorado, a scene within which his hybrid sound flourishes. For five years, he’s celebrated with an annual performance at the famously beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and in 2019, he returns with back-to-back performances. The Friday gig is called ’10-’17, and he’ll jam to tunes from his first seven years of releases, including hits from his 2016 album Good Will Prevail. The Saturday night show celebrates his present and future, featuring songs from his recent LP Ride Waves and new never-before-heard material.
The two-night extravaganza comes to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Aug. 30 and 31. Tickets go on pre-sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. MT, using the code “ride waves.” Tickets open for the general pubic Friday at 10 a.m. MT. Check the colorful fliers for each performance below.
