The wait for new Grimes music is way shorter than you think. On Tuesday morning (Sept. 3), the singer posted an gothy image of a winged woman with her hand on the skull of a fanged creature whose teeth are piercing a bloody Earth to promote a song due out on Thursday (Sept. 5). The caption of the picture is “A new way to die!,” though it was unclear at press time if that was the title of the track.
Last month, Grimes announced a team-up with Stella McCartney for an Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign focused on sustainability using eco-friendly fabrics. In a video released in August, the singer teased that her next single — which was not named at the time — would be out on Sept. 13 as the first offering from her upcoming album, Miss Anthropocene.
She previously described the new record as a “concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world… She’s composed of Ivory and Oil.” A spokesperson for Grimes could not be reached for additional comment at press time.
