Time to wake up, Green Day fans, because September has ended.
On Monday (Sept. 30), the band’s “Wake Me Up When September Ends” video got 395,000 YouTube views in just that one day, a 135 percent spike compared its daily average throughout this year, according to Loudwire.
The stark increase in views makes sense, as the tune is understandably tied to this particular time of the year, just as Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” specifically mentions “the 21st night of September.”
“Wake Me Up When September Ends” was released back in 2004 and was featured on Green Day’s iconic record, American Idiot. The song became certified platinum by the RIAA in 2008.
Okay, yes, it’s October now, but watch the “Wake Me Up When September Ends” video below.
