Green Day was forced to cancel their upcoming “secret” show after the city of Burbank denied them the necessary permits due to concerns over crowd control. The California city apparently doesn’t agree with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who tweeted “There’s no such thing as too many friends. Chaos = love” in reference to the band’s free concert, which was planned for this Friday (June 22).
The anticipated turnout was in the thousands, and authorities worried that the number would swell and pose danger to concert-goers once the secret location was revealed.
Armstrong announced the show on his Twitter page last week, posting, “Green day Surprise rock n roll sex party show meaning “secret show” coming soon in LA AREA. Stay tuned! Clothing optional! Dance or fuck off. And it’s FREE. Bring your own booze. Weirdos and punishers welcomed!”
The pop-punk trio is starting to promote their upcoming album trilogy, the first disc of which will be released in September. The “¡Uno!” follow-ups, “¡Dos!” and “¡Tré!” will follow in November and January, respectively.
