The “representative from California” had the floor at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey Wednesday night (Sept. 28), as Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong delivered a scathing indictment of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Armstrong paused in the middle of a blistering version of American Idiot anthem “Holiday” to address the packed audience. “Have you guys been watching the news lately?” he asked. “What do you think of our candidates for the presidency of the United States of America?”

Armstrong allowed the audience to respond before getting more specific. “What do you think of New York’s finest, Mr. Donald Trump?” he continued. “No racism in this f—ing room! There is no white supremacy in this f—ing room right now! We are coming together tonight in New Jersey to call bullshit on all the f—ing politicians tonight!”
Armstrong drove his point home with a lyric change, substituting “pulverize the Eiffel Towers” with “pulverizing the Trump Towers.” Armstrong also called out New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as the “enemy” on the song “Know Your Enemy.”
Green Day is currently on a special club tour promoting their forthcoming album Revolution Radio. The record is due Oct. 7.
