Granger Smith and his wife Amber are remembering their three-year-old son in a touching way.
The country superstar donated $218,791 on Tuesday (June 25) to Dell Children’s Medical Center, where River was treated before his death just over two weeks ago. “Let this be a small token of the gratitude that we’ve got for you guys,” he said while presenting the check, according to CBS Austin.
Granger and Amber both wore t-shirts in River’s honor, sold with proceeds donated to Dell. “This shirt has a Yee Yee Excavator on it (Riv’s favorite thing to do was watch excavators scoop up dirt) and is red – Riv’s favorite color,” the description reads.
On June 6, the toddler died from a “drowning accident” at home. “We were doing gymnastics in the yard and the boys were playing a water gun fight. I remember thinking, I was looking at London, as she was doing gymnastics and I thought, ‘Soak up this moment because it’s not going to last forever,'” Smith explained in an emotional video. “Somewhere between 30 seconds and three minutes, we don’t know, Amber and I are inside our pool gate doing CPR on our son.”
