
Grandtheft, who’s ascended to the dance world’s top tier via A-list remixes for artists like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, and Iggy Azalea, is preparing to release his first extended solo project ever, the upcoming EP Quit This City.

Due out this fall, the EP features Grandtheft’s new collaboration with Sleepy Tom, “Hold On.” The single, which you can listen to exclusively on Billboard below, marks the first release from the upcoming project.
“This past January, [Sleepy Tom] came to my Toronto studio with an idea that would become ‘Hold On,’ ” the producer tells Billboard. “We built it out with some of my analog synths…Huge Jupiter 6 chords and some Moog bassline business.”

Though it took some tinkering to get to the final product, Grandtheft says the core of the song was complete in that first session. “Like a number of the other songs on [Quit This City],” he adds, “warm wavy summer vibes were captured in the dead of Canadian winter.”
