While many artists worked with string sections and large numbers of dancers, the duo kept it simple, playing with just a four-piece band. Like several earlier performers — Madonna (who played “Living For Love”) and Ed Sheeran (who played his hit “Thinking Out Loud”) — Gaga and Bennett affirmed the power of love. “Oh, I love to go out fishing, in a river, or a creek,” sang Bennett. “But I don’t enjoy it half as much as dancing cheek to cheek.”

“Cheek to Cheek” was originally written by Irving Berlin in 1935. Bennett and Gaga’s album of standards debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2014. It also won the Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album earlier in the evening.
