Creative business leaders are to meet in Liverpool for the first ambassador meeting for “Cabinet,” the inaugural creativity and business international network conference held in Hertfordshire on Oct. 26-28, 2009.
Universal Music International chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge will be among the ambassadors at the meeting tonight (Nov. 20). They will discuss how to drive forward a new government program to support and develop the UK’s multi-billion pound creative economy.
The 23 Cabinet ambassadors, meeting tonight for the first time, are international leaders in various sectors including advertising, architecture, art and antiques, crafts, design, fashion, film and video, games, music, performing arts, publishing, software and television and radio.
“Cabinet is the right opportunity and environment for a like-minded group of people to ask ourselves questions critical to our future – about talent, about innovation in distribution and delivery, about creative businesses which are increasingly global, and about value systems which respect and protect intellectual property,” said Grainge in a statement.
The Liverpool event is hosted by Andy Burnham, secretary of state for culture, media and sport. Ambassadors in attendance include Channel 4 CEO Andy Duncan and Last FM COO Spencer Hyman.
Areas for discussion include the impact of the credit crunch on creative business and issues around managing and identifying talent.
