Veteran British publisher Bob Grace has launched a new company, Bay Songs Ltd. Grace’s new independent venture is open for business just nine months after he departed Windswept Music (U.K.), which he headed for 10 years.
Based in London, the former Rondor Music managing director has inked his first signing, singer/songwriter Mike Silver. Silver had a radio hit in Britain last year with “Not a Matter of Pride,” from his debut album “Solid Silver,” which was picked up by Demon Music Group. Bay Songs will represent Silver’s Fay Music Publishing.
“I’m particularly interested in working with highly talented self-contained writers, says Grace. “Having previously signed such names as Joan Armatrading and David Bowie, my main strengths are probably in spotting and helping to develop up-and-coming singer/songwriters.”
In addition, Grace is to launch a separate company, Bay Global (Management) Ltd., to manage and offer consultancy services to writers. Grace is also in the process of setting up his overseas sub-publishers.
