When Gorgon City got the opportunity to mix Pete Tong‘s latest All Gone compilation, they decided to make it memorable.
“We wanted to write two exclusive tracks for the album to ensure it stands out from the usual ‘great hits’ compilations,” the U.K. duo explains.
Those tracks became “The Terminal” and “Sky High,” which round out a stacked two-disc tracklist featuring the likes of Röyksopp & Robyn, Maceo Plex, Dusky and MK. The former is an easygoing groover where filtered synths slowly ascend against a steady backdrop of relaxed hi-hats.
You’ll have to wait until Miami Music Week to hear the full compilation, but you can check out the full premiere of “The Terminal” exclusively on Billboard:
On their first original material since last year’s debut album Sirens, the North London outfit channeled a darker subterranean vibe than its hook-oriented vocal house.
“‘The Terminal’ felt like the right mood for some of our late night Miami parties,” they say. “We can’t wait to play it at the festival this year.”
Tong describes the duo as being “at the cutting edge of a fresh new sound” that originated in the U.K., but is now “ready for the world at large.”
“They have successfully traversed commercial success at home whilst sticking closer to their warehouse and street roots when performing as DJs,” says Tong.
All Gone Pete Tong & Gorgon City Miami 2015 will be available through Defected Records on March 22, and can be pre-ordered here.
