Goldenvoice, the Los Angeles based music promoter, today announced it will assume all booking and operations of the historic Shrine Auditorium and adjacent Expo Hall following an agreement with Al Malaikah Shriner’s Temple.
Goldenvoice, which is owned by AEGLive, will also undertake a multi-million dollar renovation of the complex.
“The Shrine has been an iconic Los Angeles venue that in recent years has often been overlooked. We are proud to be part of bringing it back to its former glory” said Goldenvoice/AEGLive’s Rick Mueller in a statement. He also noted that the Shrine in the past has hosted concerts by such music legends as Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead.
The Shrine will continue host a variety of television events including the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, The Mexican Billboard Awards, as well as the CNN Heroes Awards. The Shrine will continue to serve as a venue for the local community hosting school graduations, religious gatherings and naturalization ceremonies.
Goldenvoice, best known for its Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, also presents Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival and operates three Los Angeles music venues: The Fonda Theatre, El Rey, Club Nokia and the Nokia Theatre.

Goldenvoice recently produced shows at the Shrine Auditorium with Arcade Fire, Jack White, Morrissey and Pretty Lights.
The Al Malaikah Temple, owned by the Shriner’s Fraternity, constructed the building in 1906 to host fraternity gatherings and serve as a civic center for important events in Los Angeles including past Academy Awards, Emmy Awards and Grammy Awards ceremonies.
