Estefan’s latest studio project is her first English album since “Unwrapped,” which was released in October, 2003. The Miami-based songstress tweets often from the recording studio and has has publicly discussed the new set, which is dance-inspired and scheduled for release later this year.
In response to fans questions on Twitter, Estefan also revealed that she has recorded nine tracks for the album thus far and that it will be “mostly English but bilingual in interesting ways.”
Estefan has 14 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, the third most all-time behind Enrique Iglesias‘ 22 and Luis Miguel’s 16. On Top Latin Albums, “Mi Tierra” spent 58 weeks at No. 1 beginning in July of 1993, marking the longest run atop the chart in its history.
Pharrell most recently brought his sound to another Latin crossover superstar, Shakira, for her 2009 album “She Wolf.”
