Philadelphia-based arena management firm Global Spectrum, a division of Comcast-Spectacor, will be part of a consortium to design, finance, build and manage the Singapore Sports Hub.
Global Spectrum, which manages more than 70 facilities throughout North America, will be an equity partner in the $1.25 billion sports and entertainment project, which will feature a 55,000-seat multipurpose stadium. The new facility, located on the city’s waterfront, will be developed on an 87-acre site and feature a retractable roof that doubles up as a projection screen for special effects at night.
The mixed-use complex will include an aquatic center with Olympic and recreation pools, indoor halls capable of hosting multiple sporting events, a shopping mall, an office building, a 500-room hotel, a sports medical center, a sports museum and library, and an existing 12,000-seat arena. The project is expected for completion in 2011.
The Singapore Sports Hub Consortium is led by Dragages Singapore and includes facility operator Pico, HSBC Infrastructure Fund and United Premas Pte. Ltd. Other partners include World Sport Group, Arup Sport, DP Architects, ARM Asia, Shatec, Fraser Centrepoint and Genting International.
