Glen Campbell recorded an 18-track album intended only for Elvis Presley’s ears back from 1964 to 1968. The songs were never released, until now. 50 years later on Nov. 16, Sings for the King, will be available via Capitol/UME. The collection will also be available on a limited edition 180-gram clear vinyl.
The songs, written by the King of Rock & Roll’s longtime songwriters Ben Weisman and Sid Wayne, were discovered by Executive Producer Stephen Auerbach who found the recordings on long-forgotten reel-to-reel tapes in Weisman’s storage space. Campbell was originally given the task to record the songs due to his perfect pitch and an ability to match Elvis’s key and even mimic his delivery.
