The shots keep firing in the ongoing controversy over a reception that P2P service provider LimeWire is hosting at the Digital Music Forum East conference. A2IM member GlassNote has decided to pull its act Justin Nozuka from performing at the event. Andrew WK and Vivian Girls are still scheduled to appear.
The move follows an e-mail A2IM president Richard Bengloff sent to members stating his intention to boycott the party due to what he called LimeWire’s lack of respect for copyrights.
LimeWire CEO George Searle responded with a measured plea for partnership. “True industry success can only be realized when the proper balance is struck among rights holders, service providers and consumers in creating a better-than-ever-before user experience.”
The party is scheduled for Thursday as the event’s closing reception.
