Glasgow venues the SECC, Clyde Auditorium and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut will stage concerts as part of the Homecoming Live – the Final Fling event celebrating Scottish music.
Coinciding with Scotland’s annual St. Andrew’s weekend (Nov. 26 to 30), the Final Fling will feature a host of Scotland-born and bred musical acts including Deacon Blue, Lloyd Cole, Hue and Cry, the View, Midge Ure, the Bluebells, the Vaselines, Idlewild and King Creosote. These acts will play Nov. 28 at the SECC. More acts are to be announced in the coming months.
The Final Fling has been created and produced by DF Concerts, in conjunction with Homecoming Scotland and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau. It fits within the wider Homecoming Scotland Finale Celebrations, which will be held over the entire St. Andrews weekend and feature over 40 events across Scotland.
“The Final Fling is about bringing people back home to celebrate Scotland and its music scene as well as giving them the opportunity to be part of once in a lifetime experience,” said Geoff Ellis, DF Concerts CEO, in a statement. “Music lovers will be able to join with family and friends to relive past memories and create new ones – all to a unique soundtrack, accompanied by some of the best culinary delights the country has to offer.”
Tickets for the Nov. 28 Final Fling shows at the SECC are available from Sept. 11.
Homecoming Scotland 2009 began on the weekend of Burns Night (Jan. 25), which in 2009 also marked the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet. It is funded by the Scottish government and managed by EventScotland in partnership with VisitScotland, with part financing by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
