Tiffany, the Los Angeles-bred member of K-pop phenom Girls’ Generation, has unveiled a cover sure to delight Sones and Arianators alike.
For a performance on South Korean reality show “Fashion King Korea,” the K-pop star took to the stage with just a guitarist and microphone for an acoustic take on Ariana Grande’s “The Way.” The singer held her own on the vocally-challenging R&B track, cooing on the intro and belting through the chorus.
If the K-pop singer looks unfamiliar, you may remember her when she accepted the Video of the Year award for Girls’ Generation at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards. Fans of the nine-member girl group earned the “I Got a Boy” vid triumph over competitive fanbases, including those of Justin Bieber, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.
After the win, Tiffany told with Billboard, “Just to be a part of that big group of huge artists was a big treat. We’re seven years in as a group. And to be given such a big reward is rewarding. I’m just so thankful for it.”
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation’s new album is said to be coming in the first half of 2014. The act still holds the mark of highest entry on the Billboard 200 for a K-pop album.
