On Tuesday night (May 28), New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men will officially embark on the Package tour, a summer arena trek that will debut in Uncasville, Conn. For the New Kids — who released a new album, “10,” last month — the Package tour will serve as a logical sequel to their successful NKOTBSB tour, on which they teamed up with the Backstreet Boys for a co-headlining run in 2011 and 2012.
NKOTB Has ‘Gone Back Home’ on New Album
That means that, since their 2007 reunion, New Kids on the Block will have toured with three of the best-selling vocal groups of the last two decades. But who else would be on NKOTB’s bucket list of dream touring partners? If the group could hit the road with any musical artist — alive or dead, a solo artist or a collective — who would they choose?
We asked NKOTB’s Jordan Knight to run down his dream touring partners for the latest edition of Pop Shop’s “Gimme Five” series. From the Fab Four to the one mega-selling 90s boy band that has yet to reunite, check out Knight’s five choices:
1. The Beatles
Jordan Knight: “Why not? It can be alive or dead. We’ve done arenas — we might as well join up with the Beatles and do stadiums!”
2. Take That
“I’d like to tour with a U.K. boy band and take Europe by storm. That would be amazing.”
3. New Edition
“New Edition would be really cool. That would work really well.”
4. Robin Thicke
“I’m a big fan of Robin. I met him when he was 17, and he helped me with my first solo album. He and I wrote, along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, my song ‘Give It To You.’ It would be awesome to bring him on tour.”
5. *N SYNC
“How about Justin [Timberlake] comes back and does an *N SYNC reunion? We’d do *N SYNC, Backstreet Boys and New Kids. The big three!”
