GFriend’s Yuju and IZ’s Jihoo released a new song about potential lovers wanting to confess their feelings to each other called “Heart Signal” on Friday (Oct. 27).
The song opens with symphonic flourishes that would not feel out of place on a K-drama score. It’s fitting that the set of teasers leading up to the song’s release featured different sets of couples acting out romantic moments.
The uptempo duet is filled with orchestral strings and the verses are encased in a big band groove. The hyper-saturated cinematography complements bright lyrics like, “You’re perfect/ I saw you in my dream.” Multicolored neon lighting sets the mood in romantic vignettes where Yuju and Jihoo sit at a table decorated with heart balloons, playfully fighting over food on a couch and posing with hearts in front of a camera during a picnic.
Jihoo’s newly debuted band, IZ, is featured at the end of the video. The group released their debut single, “All You Want,” at the end of August. Meanwhile, GFriend made a comeback with “Summer Rain” in September.
