On Thursday, event organizer KCON USA revealed GFriend as the third act performing at the east coast leg of the Korean convention and music festival. They join CNBLUE and TWICE, who were unveiled last week as the first two K-pop groups to be part of the 2017 KCON NY concert lineup.
Six-member girl group GFriend arrived on the K-pop scene in 2015 with “Glass Bead,” and have continually grown as artists, garnering recognition for their refreshingly sweet music and tight, artistic choreography with each release. Their latest single, the retro synthpop jam “Fingertip,” saw the act debut on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart at No. 28 in April following the release of their fourth EP, The Awakening in March.
KCON NY will be the the third time GFriend perform at a KCON event, following their set at KCON LA last year and an upcoming performance at KCON Japan in May.
KCON NY returns to Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center for the third year on June 23-24, and will be followed by the west coast equivalent held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on August 18-20. The two KCON USA events offer a variety of Korean pop culture content-based programming, including the headlining concerts, discussion panels, e-sport competitions, and a marketplace.
Stayed tuned for further KCON NY and KCON LA lineup announcements in weeks to come.
