According to Wal-Mart, the “Garth Brooks: The Limited Series” boxset has sold more than one million copies since its release, and in doing so, has set sales records for the merchant.
An earlier sales report claiming the boxset sold gold was met with skepticism from senior distribution executives at the majors, who estimated the figure between 300,000 and 400,000 units. But Wal-Mart’s latest press release was remarkably definitive: it spells out that the six CD boxset sold more than one million units, and noted that translates into more than six million discs.
According to the retailer, the boxset is the fastest selling media title on the merchant’s online-store, has set a record for pre-orders on its Web site and is the top selling music item in the company’s history.
