Galantis love to go all out with their music videos, and their latest — “Bones” featuring OneRepublic — is a CGI-fueled adventure with X-ray vision. The official visual sees director Spencer Hord exploring a piece of his past from new angles.
The video’s stars take a not-so-scary romp through an animated amusement park that turns everyone inside its walls into smiling skeletons. The team mixes 3D animation techniques with computer-generated visuals to set the mood.
“This project was a rare occasion where our amazing team of animators, editors, and production nerds (Joe Cella, Pix3lface, Vince McKelvie, Sam Newell, Andrew Henry, Joey Bryars, and Brian Beckwith) saw the album artwork and knew the concept straight away,” Hord is quoted in a press release. “We wanted to do something conceptually simple but visually challenging.”
“We shot the live action plates at Castle Park in Riverside — a small theme park in Southern California I grew up attending for various grade-school birthday parties,” Hord continues. “The location was much better than I remembered, and the production process became a nostalgic experience to say the least.”
The Norwegian electro-pop duo has a few tour dates lined up for North America through the summer and fall of 2019.
