Sony BMG Nashville chairman and longtime Country Music Association board member Joe Galante has been honored with the CMA President’s Award, which is awarded annually at the discretion of the president of the board. Board president and Lyric Street Records president Randy Goodman made the presentation at a board meeting and praised the leadership, creative thinking and dedication that Galante has demonstrated during his nearly 25 years on the CMA board.
“Joe’s contributions to CMA have been numerous over the years, but I wanted to honor him now for a specific initiative he has led during the past year at CMA that will be a benefit to our membership,” Goodman said in a prepared statement. “Joe has paved the way for CMA to evolve its services, creating a marketing research department that can provide information and insightful analysis for our members.”
Galante joined the CMA board in 1978, serving as president in 1983 and chairman in 1986. He left the board in 1990 and returned in 1996. Galante is currently one of the longest-tenured members on the board.
Tammy Genovese, CMA CEO, called Galante “one of the most dedicated and visionary leaders in our industry and community.”
