Gabriel-Kane is back on the music scene, though this time the 20-year-old son of Daniel Day-Lewis has abandoned his dream of being a rap star and is pursuing a slower, more soulful sound.
In the past year, the singer released his first single “Ink in My Veins,” and now his second single “True” is available exclusively on Billboard.
“‘True’ is about self discovery and learning,” Gabriel-Kane told Billboard about his latest single. “[The song is] about how I’ve learned to let go of my hardships and some of the resentments I used to have. Writing [‘True’] was extremely therapeutic and it allowed me to move forward in my life.”

Though the singer only has two songs available as of now — with a third single scheduled for release in April — fans can support the tatted teen’s modeling career, which has already landed him a contract with IMG and a spot in a Chanel fashion show.
While he admits that it has been hard for him to thrive apart from his parents’ success — his dad is the Oscar-winning actor and his mom is French actress Isabelle Adjani — it has only fueled his creative process. (Gabriel-Kane once rapped, “Call me Gabe Day and not Gabe Day-Lewis, because if you’re trying to call me out, I’m ’bout to Gabe Day-Lose-It!”)
“I’m very proud of who my parents are, but they really set a high bar and cast an immense shadow,” Gabriel-Kane told Billboard. “It’s made it hard for me to find myself.”
