The company behind the Fuse and NUVOtv networks will launch in the fall a new network, to be called FM, with music at its core and a focus on up-and-coming, young talent. Programming will be announced at a later date.
Fuse Media announced the new network today (Mar. 4), alongside programming announcements that included a new program in development with Jennifer Lopez‘ Nuyorican Productions, and SKEE TV, a new weekly music series hosted by DJ Skee that will premiere April 9.
Fuse will be redesigned this fall to target the so-called “New Young Americans,“ defined as influencers and tastemakers between the ages of 18 and 34, from multiple cultures. The redesign and new network appear to make Fuse and FM head-to-head competitors with Sean Combs‘ Revolt TV, which has targeted urban millennials since its launch in October 2013.
“Our new line-up reflects the interests and diversity of a millennial generation who set their own trends and whose tastes know no cultural boundaries,” said Fuse Media president Bill Hilary.
The new White Guy Talk Show, a daily pop culture talk show that airs nightly at 10:30 p.m., premiered this week. Comedians Grace Parra and Saurin Choksi are the hosts.
Fuse made the announcements in advance of the annual upfront meetings, where television networks present their fall lineups to advertisers.
The network has also renewed seasons three and four of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, which began its second season in late February.
The network is developing the street dancer competition show King of the Floor, hosted and executive produced by Wilmer Valderrama; Transcendent, about transgender women who perform at the Asia San Francisco Cabaret; and a weekly dance show, Saturday Morning Fever.
