Nelly Furtado continues her career-best week as “Promiscuous” featuring Timbaland elevates two rungs to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. “Promiscuous” sends Taylor Hicks’ “Do I Make You Proud” to No. 3 after only one week atop the chart. The song’s parent album, “Loose,” “bowed at No. 1 yesterday (June 28) on The Billboard 200.
“Promiscuous” also seizes the Pop 100 pole position from “Do I Make You Proud,” which falls to No. 3. On the Hot Digital Songs chart, the Furtado cut swaps 2-1 with Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” featuring Wyclef. The latter track holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and leads the Hot Latin Songs tally for a seventh week.
Yung Joc’s “It’s Goin’ Down” stays put at No. 4 on the Hot 100 and remains atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart for a sixth week. Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” ascends 6-5, Cassie’s “Me & U” climbs 9-6 and Chamillionaire’s “Ridin'” featuring Krayzie Bone slides 5-7.
Rihanna’s “Unfaithful” keeps the No. 8 spot warm, while Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man” rockets into the top tier with a 13-9 leap. Rascal Flatts’ “Life Is a Highway” slips 7-10 to round out the top 10.
Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind” is the Hot 100’s top debut at No. 18 and is the third-highest new entry of 2006, behind Taylor Hicks’ “Do I Make You Proud” (debuted at No. 1) and Ashley Parker Angel’s “Let U Go” (debuted at No. 17). Also new to the chart are Janet Jackson’s “Call On Me” featuring Nelly (No. 73), Korn’s “Coming Undone” (No. 79), Keane’s “Is It Any Wonder?” (No. 81), Cheyenne Kimball’s “Hanging On” (No. 86) and Trace Adkins’ “Swing” (No. 95).
Koji Kondo’s “Super Mario Brothers Theme” fronts the Hot Ringtones chart for a fifth frame, while Kenny Chesney’s “Summertime” notches a fourth week atop the Hot Country Songs chart. Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day” leads the Adult Contemporary roundup for a 10th.
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dani California” continues to dominate both the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock tallies for an 11th and ninth week, respectively.
