In a newly released video, the members of alt-pop band fun. describe the backbone of the album “Some Nights” as “the three of us recording live [while] really comfortable in our element.”
Thanks to the ubiquitous smash “We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monae),” the band has catapulted into the forefront of Top 40 radio, offering a seamless blend of rock, pop, and hip-hop undertones not often heard by mainstream audiences.

“I think [‘We Are Young’] was really the kick start to the album,” says vocalist Nate Ruess about the chart-topping sensation. “There was a lot of talk about what the album was going to be, and we’d been listening to a lot of hip-hop and wanted to make an album with that kind of vibe.”
The band, who are set to perform at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, also details about how it felt when the title song, their new single, finally came together. “It’s like in Christmas Vacation when he puts all the lights on the house and he can’t get it on… when he turns it on, there it is, and that’s exactly what the song was.”
