Kate Fulton has resigned as director general of British Music Rights (BMR), the London-based lobbying body for author/publisher interests.
Fulton replaced outgoing BMR director general Frances Lowe in September 2003. Prior to joining the rights body, she was chief legal counsel for Europe/U.K. at advertising agency Young and Rubicam. In a statement, Fulton says she quit because she “does not have the time to effectively deliver the [organization’s] planned program.”
BMR chairman Alistair Hunter says he is disappointed that Fulton left so suddenly, and confirms that the board is considering options for a replacement. In the meantime, BMR GM Henrietta Yoxall will serve as acting director general.
BMR is an umbrella body representing authors’ societies the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the Music Publishers Assn., the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society and the Performing Right Society.
