Have mercy!
Coming this fall — and just in time for the upcoming Netflix revival — from the creators of smash off-Broadway hits Bayside! The Musical! and Showgirls! The Musical! is the musical parody Full House! The Musical!, which will open off-Broadway in September.
‘Full House’ Cast Reunites, Sings Theme Song
“In Full House! The Musical! the Tanner family patriarch, Danny, loses his super power of solving any problem with his sensible Dad Speeches (complete with soft piano accompaniment),” the plot description, via Broadway World, explains. “Follow Danny’s wacky and hilarious descent into madness as he slowly turns from wholesome Danny Tanner to foul-mouthed and dark Bob Saget. Will he get his Dad Speech power back in time to save his family? Probably not!”
Joking that the musical will answer questions like “Will Kimmy Gibbler be murdered?” and “How many catchphrases can one family have?!” the show will also include tunes such as “Have Mercy on My Heart/Don’t Touch the Hair” and “I’m Kind of a Slut (But Just Enough for Network TV),” featuring, naturally, DJ Tanner.
‘Full House’ Revival: Jesse & the Rippers Reunion & Other Musical Moments We Need to See
Full House! The Musical! features book, music, lyrics and direction by Bob and Tobly McSmith (Bayside! The Musical!, Showgirls! The Musical!, JonBenet! Murder Mystery Theater!).
Here’s hoping the Beach Boys (at least their music) make an appearance.
