Harlem’s own French Montana spent years building a buzz with his “Cocaine City” DVD series and mixtapes, but truly hit his stride last year. After signing a joint deal with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group in early 2012, the Moroccan rapper gained traction with singles “Shot Caller” that peaked at No. 23 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and “Pop That” featuring Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne that hit No. 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Closing out last year, Montana released his acclaimed mixtape “Mac & Cheese 3” and teased features from The Weeknd, Travis Barker and Nicki Minaj on his major label debut “Excuse My French” most recently spawned “Marble Floors” featuring Ross, 2 Chainz and Wayne.
