Could Frank Ocean‘s “channel ORANGE” be the R&B breakthrough star’s last album?
“It could be,” he told the Guardian, in an admittedly facetious interview. “I don’t ever want to be caught up in a system of thinking I can do one thing cos that’s just … that’s just telling yourself a lie.”

The singer says he “might just write a novel next” or attempt other art forms, but reassured the newspaper that he wasn’t done with songwriting.

“I don’t intend to stop making music,” he said. “This isn’t a faux retirement… I was just making music yesterday.”
And Ocean was grateful for the album’s success, taking a moment to appreciate his recent six Grammy nominations.
“Of course awards matter,” he said. “It’s like a player in any ball league… the Grammys are like the championship, and that’s cool. It’s cool to be recognized by your peers.”
Ocean’s nominations include both Album of the Year and Best New Artist; he’ll face off against chart heavyweights Fun. in both categories, with Mumford & Sons, Jack White and the Black Keys also up for Album of the Year.
However, Ocean’s personal picks would be more eclectic: “I thought Norah Jones made a really good record,” he said, asked what releases he’d enjoyed in 2012. He also named John Mayer, a guest on “channel ORANGE,” and Fleetwood Mac — the classic rock act that will hit the road again next year.
“I think Fleetwood Mac needs to make a new album. I think so. ” he said.
